Ion Exchange Technique for Copper Recovery from Mines, Mining Tailings, Electroplating

Copper is the first metal discovered and used by humans and is widely used due to its good ductility, thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity.

Copper is widely used in electrical appliances, light industry, machinery manufacturing, construction industry, national defense and other industries, and its consumption is second only to aluminum. Copper is mainly obtained from the smelting of copper ore. The copper smelting process is divided into two types: fire method and wet method. High-grade ore is generally smelted by fire method, high-grade tailings and low-grade copper oxide, which are generally smelted by wet method. With the reduction of recoverable high-grade ore, wet smelting technology has gradually gained attention.

The wet copper smelting uses copper sulfate to convert the copper element in the copper ore into soluble copper sulphate, and then puts the iron into the copper sulphate solution to replace the copper. This method is called wet copper smelting. Ion exchange can efficiently recover copper from solution, which is generally suitable for tailings, or copper in wastewater.

Special Chelating Resins for Copper Extraction

Special Copper chelating resin is specially designed for Cu adsorption and perfectly used in Cu recovery of mines, mining tailings, electroplating etc, as well as refinery of Cu solutions. It was highly selective to Cu and able to adsorb Cu from strong acidic solutions and not affected by other metal ions. Cu removal rate could be higher than 99%. The capacity exceeds 35g/L.

SEPLITE ® Strong Base Anion Exchange Resin The Strong Base Anion Exchange Resin  ( sba resin )  is the type of ion exchange resin with functional group of quaternary ammonium, which is strongly alkaline and dissociates just like NaOH and KOH.
